# LinkedIn and Instagram safe daily limit calculator

Work out how many LinkedIn connection requests and messages, or Instagram DMs, follows and likes, an account can safely send today. Based on account age, seat type and warm-up week, using the ceilings Sumora enforces in production.

Free, no sign-up. Limits last updated 2026-08-07, from [Sumora’s published send ceilings](/capabilities).

**Short answer:** start a new free LinkedIn account at **5 connection requests a day** and climb to **20** over 12 sending days (Premium and Sales Navigator: 8 to 35). Start a new Instagram account at **5 cold DMs** and **6 follows a day**, climbing to **30 DMs** and **30 follows**. A weekly ceiling tied to account maturity applies on top of the daily number.

Highlighted row is your current week. Amber totals mean the weekly ceiling for your account’s maturity cuts in before the daily ramp does. Maturity rises with age and completed actions, so later weeks often unlock more.

### Risk check

- Watch**Track your acceptance rate**

Acceptance rate decides how much volume an account can carry. If it falls below roughly 20%, cut volume and fix targeting before resuming. Keep the pending-invite backlog small.

- Watch**New account: lowest weekly ceilings**

An account counts as new until it is at least 14 days old and has completed 50 actions. Both conditions matter: an old account with almost no activity is still treated as new.

- OK**Send only in human hours**

Keep all activity to 08:00 to 20:00 in the account owner's timezone, Mon to Fri, with irregular gaps. Timing regularity is a signal on its own, however low the volume.

Numbers are the ceilings Sumora enforces per account, published at [trysumora.com/capabilities](https://trysumora.com/capabilities). They are safe operating ceilings, not the point where a platform blocks you: neither LinkedIn nor Instagram publishes a hard number.

## How the calculator works

It answers three questions about your account and then does simple arithmetic on published numbers:

1. **How mature is the account?** Age and completed actions together decide whether it is new, active or mature. Maturity sets the weekly ceiling.
2. **Which rung of the warm-up ramp is it on?** Sending happens Mon to Fri, so warm-up week 1 is sending days 1 to 5, week 2 is days 6 to 10, and so on. The ramp sets the daily number.
3. **Which limit binds first?** If hitting the daily number every sending day would overshoot the weekly ceiling, the weekly ceiling wins and the calculator tells you where to stop.

The risk check then adds what volume alone cannot capture: acceptance rate on LinkedIn, whether you warm leads before a DM on Instagram, and whether the account was restricted recently, which restarts the ramp at day one.

## The numbers behind it

Every value below is a ceiling Sumora’s outreach engine enforces per account, as published on the [capabilities page](/capabilities) and in the limit guides. The calculator never uses a number that is not in this table.

**n/p** means not published. Day-by-day ramps are published for LinkedIn connection requests and Instagram cold DMs; for the other actions only the day-one and plateau values are, so the calculator shows the range between them while an account warms up.

## How account maturity is decided

Maturity

Rule

New

Under 14 days old, or fewer than 50 completed actions

Active

Under 90 days old, or fewer than 400 completed actions

Mature

90\+ days old and 400\+ completed actions

## What actually gets accounts restricted

### LinkedIn

1. **Sustained invite volume.** The dominant factor: a high rate held over days, not one spike.
2. **Low acceptance rate.** Below roughly 20%, or a large pending backlog, signals indiscriminate sending.
3. **Mechanical timing.** Exact intervals, 3am sends or seven-day weeks read as automation.
4. **Cold-start volume.** A new or dormant account jumping straight to plateau volume.

### Instagram

1. **Cold DMs to non-followers at volume.** The highest-risk action on the platform.
2. **Follow/unfollow cycling.** Recognised instantly and penalised hard.
3. **Identical message text.** Repetition across recipients is a stronger signal than wording.
4. **Burst timing.** Actions with no human gaps, or activity around the clock.
5. **Account and device signals.** New accounts, sudden IP changes, shared fingerprints.

On every platform, keep activity to 08:00 to 20:00in the account owner’s timezone, Mon to Fri, with irregular gaps. More volume comes from more warmed accounts, each under its own ceiling, never from pushing one account higher.

## What this calculator cannot tell you

- Where the platform’s real line is for your account. Nobody outside LinkedIn or Instagram knows that, and it moves.
- Whether your targeting and copy are good. A clean pace with a poor list still drives acceptance down.
- Anything about email. Cold email warms per mailbox on its own schedule; see the [cold email warm-up guide](/guides/cold-email-warmup-schedule).

Full reasoning is in the guides: [LinkedIn connection request limits](/guides/linkedin-connection-request-limits), [LinkedIn account warm-up](/guides/linkedin-account-warmup), [Sales Navigator limits](/guides/linkedin-sales-navigator-limits), [Instagram DM limits](/guides/instagram-dm-limits) and [recovering from an Instagram action block](/guides/instagram-action-block-recovery). Writing the first message? Run it through the [cold message checker](/tools/cold-message-checker).

## Frequently asked questions

How many LinkedIn connection requests can I safely send per day?

A brand new free account should start at 5 a day and climb to about 20 a day over 12 sending days. A Premium or Sales Navigator seat starts at 8 and climbs to about 35 a day over 13 sending days. A weekly ceiling also applies: 50 invites for a new free seat, 70 for a new Premium seat. For an established free seat, about 100 a week is the widely observed soft limit.

How many Instagram DMs can I send per day without getting blocked?

For cold DMs to people who do not follow you, start a new account at 5 a day and climb to at most 30 a day once fully warmed. Weekly ceilings are 35 for a new account, 90 for an active one and 180 for a mature one. Warm each lead with 2 touches over 18+ hours before the first DM.

Does LinkedIn Premium or Sales Navigator raise the limits?

Yes, by roughly 75 percent, not without limit. Connection requests rise from about 20 to 35 a day and messages to first-degree connections from about 20 to 40 a day. A paid seat still has to warm up and can still be restricted.

Does an Instagram business or creator account get higher limits?

No. Instagram has no paid tier that lifts outreach limits, so personal, creator and business accounts get the same ceilings. Extra volume has to come from additional warmed accounts, not from one account sending more.

Why does the calculator ask how many actions the account has sent?

Because maturity depends on activity as well as age. An account is new until it is at least 14 days old and has completed 50 actions, and mature once it is 90+ days old with 400+ actions. A year-old account that has barely been used is still treated as new.

Are these LinkedIn's and Instagram's official limits?

No. Neither platform publishes a hard number, and enforcement is behavioural. These are the safe operating ceilings Sumora enforces on every account it runs, set at the conservative end of what has been observed. Staying under them lowers risk; it does not guarantee an account will never be restricted.
